Phan Thiet is located about 200 km from Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon, and 250 km from Nha Trang.

Phan Thiet a very nice city with a long history - Phan Thiet is the capital of the province of Binh Thuan. Binh Thuan is a historically important place for the Vietnamese. Binh Thuan was once a part of the Champa kingdom. 1692 was the area sieged and conquered by Nguyen Phuc Chu and then named the area Binh Thuan.

Fishing is a very important industrial in Phan Thiet and they are famous for its fish sauce, Nuoc Mam made from anchovy-like fish that has been stored in special upptappningsbad in just over a year before the fish sauce is produced, fish sauce Nuoc Mam is widely used in Asian cuisine.

Outside of Phan Thiet is one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire Vietnam Bai Rang often called Rang Beach, It is located 15 km northwest of the city and is overgrown by lots of beautiful coconut palms. The most popular beach, is the Mui Ne Beach and its magnificent red sand dunes

Phan Thiet has only 10 % humidity throughout the year, making the city and its province to Vietnam's driest area. The temperature is around 28 degrees and the climate is good all year round.

At Mui Ne Beach it is raining only half as much as in the town of Phan Thiet, So it almost newer rains at all.
